Jana & JS is an artist duo who has been working with four hands for 10 years.
As a couple in life as in art, they paint with stencils, portraits, often on the background of urban architectures.
Interested in changing neighborhoods, they include in their works, human figures who bring and take a new look at their
environment.
The urban space and the places in which they're performing, the traces of passing time and a certain melancholy are so many inspirations that feed their work. They are depicting in the expressions or attitudes of their characters and in the choice of media used.
By portraying their portraits in front of the façades of dehumanized buildings, they give the individual his singularity and place him as the main and essential subject.
Based in Austria, home of Jana, they work both outdoors on large wall surfaces and original media in their workshop. Their work exudes a delicate poetry and accounts for a great plastic research.
Jana & JS use multiple supports, from wood to concrete, to give life to their silhouettes.
